A Life in the Night of Alex Mauldin

31 Aug

The story continues…

Deep in the genetic code of man, there lies a string of commands so engrained in our behaviour that we follow them without question and with readiness. These instructions were written as a survival technique to thwart some long forgotten threat and may never be fully understood. It is with inherent instinct and blind autonomy that we subject ourselves to the motions carried out in this simple task–never questioning, and always doing. Without fail, this one basic habit of man can be observed in every member of the species. This one simple, unspoken rule is known to all on some subconcious plane. Once you go down for rest, no matter how short the duration, the first order of business upon rising, is to rid one’s body of waste. Without flourish, or concious consideration, Alex sidestepped to the toilet.
