A Life in the Night of Alex Mauldin

21 Sep

A really short one this week…

“The Lord wants you to have this annointing oil, for only three easy pay*tick*t’s the deal with chicken of th*tick*degrees in Chicago, Ninety-five in Dallas*tick*the worms are drawn to the rythmic beat of the thumpers.” Alex stopped the TV on “Dune.” With only four channels, it didn’t take long to decide. Alex wondered if the local network was still using old tape technology as he struggled to thear the dialog. Alex could almost quote the whole movie. It had been the late-late movie for five of the last thirteen nights. It was apparently in high rotation alongside “Ishtar,” “Road Warrior,” and “Rocky V.” Alex had begun to notice a developing desert theme, but it was “Rocky V” that confounded him.
